CHICAGO –Doug Banks, who was a radio host at several stations, including Chicago’s V103 and WGCI, and appeared on ABC7’s ”190 North,” dead at 57.
CNN commentator Roland Martin tweeted that he was suffering from failing kidneys. Other sources have cited complications of diabetes.
Banks is a Philadelphia native but grew up in Detroit. He began his broadcasting career on his high school’s radio station in Detroit, Michigan. He then moved on to the big time in Motor City radio. Leaving Detroit, Doug became a hit on stations in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The recipient of numerous radio awards, he also was a contributor to the television program “190 North” for over a decade.
